An upper arm lift, or brachioplasty, reduces excess sagging skin and fat from the upper arms that is due to aging or
weight loss. Liposuction can be performed at the same time in order to maximize results.
The Procedure
The procedure is usually done under general anesthesia and takes about 3 hours. The location and length of the incision are
dependent on the amount of skin to be removed. Through the incisions excess skin and fat are removed and deep tissues are tightened.
Recovery
After the procedure, dressings and bandages may be applied to the incisions. Initial healing occurs in 10-14 days. Most bruising
and swelling disappear in 3-4 weeks.
Results
After the surgery, you will have slimmer, firmer and more youthful looking arms. Scars will be hidden in the arm pit or on the
inside of the arm but will be visible.
Risks
Post-operative complications vary from patient to patient and can be reduced by closely following your surgeon's instructions
before and after the surgery.
