Rhinoplasty Photos Rhinoplasty, or nasal surgery, can enhance the shape, size, and general appearance of your nose by correcting a drooping nasal tip, a bump on the nasal bridge, and other unfavorable attributes. Chin enhancement is a procedure often performed alongside rhinoplasty to achieve optimal facial balance.

The Procedure
The procedure is done on an outpatient basis under sedation or general anesthesia. Working through nasal incisions, the nose’s framework of bone and cartilage is sculpted to the desired shape.  Changes may be made to reshape the tip, reduce the size or width of the nose, increase or decrease the nasal bridge, or change the angle between the nose and the upper lip.

Recovery
Following surgery, the patient goes home with an external cast or splint which is usually removed in 7-10 days.  Patients may return to school or a non-strenuous job within 10 days.  Major swelling and bruising subsides over a 2-4 week period.  In general, semifinal results are evident in 3 months.  As each month passes patients will notice gradual improvement until healing is complete in about 12-14 months.

Results
The results of rhinoplasty enhance the balance between the nose and other facial features. The patient will have a straighter bridge, a well defined nasal tip and an improved angle between the nose and the upper lip.  Most patients who have nasal surgery are very pleased with their results.

Risks
Complications are usually infrequent but include the possibility of infection, nosebleed, healing variability which could requite another surgery, or a reaction to the anesthesia.  You can reduce your risks by closely following your surgeon’s instructions before and after surgery.
